Best Steak in Redding Area?

Best Steak in Redding Area?Who do you think serves the absolutely best steak in the Redding area? Jacks? Market Street Steakhouse? Outback? …. Where and Why??? Let us know your thoughts and by next Monday I will summarize the entries…..

  1. Amanda Brewer

Having to admit I’ve never ate at Jacks, my vote will go to Palo Cedro Inn. I know not exactly where you would first think about eating, and obviously not the classes place in town, but one of the best cooked steaks in town, with mouth watering flavor, cooked exactly how you want it, flavored to your liking. So if your ever in the mood for a laid back, country atmosphere, and friendly people stop by and try the food.

  2. Bernell Hirning

Clearly Rivers. Nothing even comes close.

  3. barbara harrison

Jacks. Without a doubt would be my first choice. Market St. second. altho they are not as consistant with choice meat and SERVICE as Jacks. At Jacks you are not disappointed, because what you order and how it is cooked is always perfect.

  4. Emmett Burroughs

Cattlemen’s!!! They have the best taste and are the juciest hands down!

  5. Bill Kent

All the above have good steaks, including Cool Hand Lukes. Maybe a easier question would be where to get a “not so good Steak”

  6. Brian Mogensen

    Hey Ross…

Nello’s has the best filet mignon in town in my opinion & their salad’s rock.

    Brian

  7. Jeff Avery

Other than my backyard bar-b-que, toss up between Jack’s and Marketstreet Steakhouse.

  8. Barbara Brooks

Jack’s filet is the BEST!!! But I haven’t tried the new Rivers yet…

  9. Julie Gussenhoven

Haven’t been to Jack’s in many years. I love the filet mignon at Market Street Steakhouse. I’ve never been disappointed there. Was just at Rivers the other night. I didn’t have steak but the food was good and the service was great.

  10. Tammy Reynolds

Market Street Steakhouse is always good. Cool Hand Luke’s has a great New York Steak and so much food you have to take half home for lunch the next day. Haven’t been to Rivers yet. My last steak at Jack’s was grisley. sp? Thanks for the email Ross!

  11. Maria Salyer

Thanks Ross! Got the husband to take me out for a steak dinner now!

Our vote is Market Street for their steak’s juicy “deliciousness” and a relaxing atmosphere.

  12. Scott Exley

Jack’s wins in my mind because the steaks are great and you can’t beat the funky atmosphere. I also like the historical significance that Jack’s has as a local landmark. I like fancy places too (the new Rivers is quite nice), but I like to have a steak in a place that looks like a bar. And if you like deep fried shrimp at all, you have to try Jack’s butterfly shrimp as they are the best combination of hot cooking oil, breading and sea creatures I have ever had. The sauce is good too. But I ramble…..

  13. Kathy Sheldon

My number one vote goes to Jack’s because it’s consistently great, funky atmosphere & a Redding landmark. Second, would be Marketstreet Steakhouse, and third Palo Cedro Inn.

  14. Brad Garbutt

My vote is for Jack’s. Very unique char crust makes them steaks tasty. Haven’t been to Rivers yet so can’t comment or compare.

  15. Billie Lohman

We both say “Jack’s”, just can’t beat that place!!!Tried others, but to be honest Jack’s has the best steak.. Aunt Bill

  16. Laura Matthews

The absolute best place in town to get a steak is “The Post Office Saloon and Grill” Shhh..Don’t tell anybody it’s a local secret:)Friendly atmosphere and live music, can’t go wrong!

  17. Jake Mangas

As a Redding purist…it has to be Jacks. What a melt in your mouth experience. The bar there is a good warm up for the taste buds as well!

  18. Dave West

There is no comparison…It’s Jack’s. A very unique Redding experience with the nostalgia and grit of the 1800s mixed with the perfect steak and whatever it is that makes people wait three deep at the bar for over an hour to sit at a small, dimly lit table(they give you flashlights so you can see the bill) and “talk” with your friends over the ambient sound level with decibel levels that sometimes seem higher than my riding lawnmower. I love the place. It’s the steaks.

  19. Cassie Gibson-Gyves

I am not a huge meat fan, however, for a random steak craving I will say Jacks has it! Their homemade salad dressings are to die for! I always fill up on salad….and save room for a few bites of filet mignon!

  20. Esther Auerbach

In my opinion both Jack’s and Market Street Steakhouse serve delicious steaks, but waiting for a table is much more comfortable at Market Street Steakhouse. I have been to Rivers and was very pleased, but have not had their steak yet…

  21. Valerie Combs

Outback has a great Blue-Cheese Filet, out of this world. But, if I’m at home R&R meats-wonderful flavor!

  22. Steve Kisia

Jacks for sure (love the crusty outside) Haven’t had steak at Rivers yet. But can’t imagine going anywhere else for steak.

  23. D. Domke

No contest! It is the steaks that come off your backyard grill! My second choice would be Market Street. Haven’t tried Rivers. Mom

  24. Mary Lascelles

Have you tried PCI? Since you’re the one doing the charbroiling, you just have yourself to blame if you don’t like it!

  25. Tobias (Toby) Preston

I”m with Emmett–Cattlemans all the way for my Best Steak in Redding vote!

  26. Becky Edwards

I don’t get out much, but I ate at Market Street Steakhouse and was very impressed as was my sister and her husband when they ate there when visiting. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are great too. In fact, I just recommended a client take some clients to dinner there tonight.

  27. Bettie Hixson

The best steak would be Jacks eaten at Rivers!!

  28. Lisa Christy

I don’t know but for some reason I am very hungry.

  29. Lisa Christy

By the way…who has the best dessert?

  30. Vickie Marler

The best steaks in town by far are at Market Street Steak House.

  31. Lou Gerard

Gee Ross, I’m a poor one to ask, largely because I don’t eat much steak. I agree with Mom! What I’m able to concoct in the barbecue suits me very well. Jack’s is, of course, a venerated institution, but the smell of late evening clean-up crew, as they pumice stone the grill, is something I can’t handle. It’s particularly obnoxious after an evening at the Cascade Theatre, as the smell wafts down the alley and on to Sacramento and South Streets. So, As a second choice, I vote for Market Street Steakhouse.

Thanks for asking, sorry for the lengthy reply. You asked

  32. chet nowak

In my opinoin market street steak house is the best since I have not eaten at rivers !!!!!

  33. Jenn G

Without a doubt….Jacks. The steaks are always seasoned and cooked to perfection. Plus who else can pull off that one of a kind atmosphere?

  34. Susie Evans-Wood

We really don’t eat out much – along with other’s – we think our “at home” steaks reigns supreme. Second choice would be MarketStreet. We’ve been very happy with the quality of our steaks and the customer service. Their wine list is extensive as well. Jacks is still a favorite and a very close #2 (needs to improve the wine list). I usually go for the scallops at Jacks – best I’ve ever tasted!

  35. Mike Ferrier

Jack’s. I give away dinners as contest prizes. Jack’s always gets the most attention. You go there for the food and nothing else. It is not where I would take a client, but definitely where I take my appetite. Bettie Hixon #27 has the right idea.
Off of steak…you have to try the scallops at The Rivers.

  36. Robert Frazier

Jack’s without a doubt is the best in town. You have a great steak, and salad with the atmosphere that can not be bet in all of Redding, not to mention one of the greatest bartenders in town.

  37. Melanie Gomez

    Hi Ross,

I’m late with my choice for best steak, but here is my favorite. Lulu’s on Pine Street has without a doubt the best ‘Steak Diane’ I have ever eaten. Tu Huu Pham, Chef, prepares to perfection! Every time and with a superb cut of Filet Mignon. All their steaks are very good, but this is my choice and induldge whenever I get the chance. Anyone who tries it out won’t be disappointed!

  38. Melanie Gomez

    Oops, indulge, not induldge…..

  39. Bill Young

It has to be Jacks. You can’t beat the quality, service and of course the Atmosphere. Although I haven’t tried Rivers yet.

  40. Harry Grashoff

Jack’s for sure. Then my home bar-b-qued.
